Bid Farewell to Rankin

Renowned British photographer and director Rankin celebrates the release of the latest edition of Leica’s S- Magazine ‘The Rankin Issue’, which he guest edited, with an exhibition at the RANKIN Gallery located on Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, Los Angeles.

This will be the final exhibition at Rankin’s LA pop-up gallery before it moves back to the UK in March. After two enormously successful years showcasing his unique vision, the gallery will close with this outstanding collaboration.

The doors open to the public on January 23rd and will run until mid-February, opening hours, Tuesday – Saturday, 11am-6pm.

“I’d always thought it would be interesting to do a hair book – where you take hairdressers and you give them the opportunity to do anything they want. It was a chance to collaborate with the people I really admire, but also people I knew had hidden talents that maybe hadn’t come out yet.” RANKIN

Keeping true to his esteemed vision for the worlds of fashion and art, Rankin dedicated the 200-page issue to the art of hair styling, by inviting nine world-famous hair stylists to design and direct their shoots in collaboration with him. Each stylist created striking hair-led fashion and beauty stories, pushing boundaries and ridding any preconceptions — the results of which will adorn the walls of his gallery this month.

Featured hair stylists include: Alain Pichon, Wendy Iles, Kenna, Raphaël Salley, Tina Outen, Nick Irwin, Kevin Ford, Charlie Le Mindu and Johnnie Sapong.

All nine shoots filmed by Rankin can be viewed at Hunger TV:

S -Magazine ‘The Rankin Issue’ is available at select book stores and retails at $23.00
