Hi Breeps!

Well BritWeek was in full swing last week and we got to attend a few of the shindigs -
TopShop at the grove with BAFTA, with Brits in LA members Herb Ankrom, Ewan Chung and the charismatic Kara (KJ) Miller. Miles Siggins (Top British Stylist) hosted a cocktail reception at Barker Black on Robertson- An exquisite men's shoe designer made in London. I had my eye on a few pairs. My birthday is soon, might have to treat myself.
Then the always interesting and thoroughly entertaining, Mr. Marc Conneely joined me for a trip down memory lane at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica for the Downton Abbey Themed party.
It was great to see so many Brits in LA members make the effort and dress the part. Mr. Andy Newton Lee and Miss Lizzie Wordsall. The talented actress Sarah Farooqui, who can currently be seen in Iron Man 3. This weeks number one movie. Looking very downtown was UKares COO Marina Paganucci and UKares Treasurer Sandra McClean with Lorraine Wilkinson. Mia and Giles and the Mabbatt sisters looked amazing as per usual. I spent most of the evening with the Farwells.
The strikingly gorgeous and very tall Claire and her talented husband Gus, whom you might remember from many of our events where he has entertained us with his amazing operatic voice. I shared some laughs with Uber talent manager and Producer Louisa Spring, who looked ravishing in gold, arm in arm with her husband and TV show creator Bill McDonald.

Friday saw us take part in our first ever twitter chat  joining us was Talent manager, producer Louisa Spring Mind the Gap 's weekly #MindTheChat Twitter discussions, along with Big Apple Brits and Virgin Atlantic.  The topic for this friday is Travel - share with us some of your favourite travel places and tips. 10am #MindTheChat you can follow us on  @britsinla
We ended the week with a fantastic Roast lunch at one of our favourite haunts the Pikey. Where I overheard one guest say it was the best roast he's had in two years. I have to agree it was quite delicious.

This week I am on call for Jury Duty. One of the responsibilities of every American citizen.  If you are not a citizen you will not have to do it. but once you are there is no getting out of it. They know every little trick in the book and have wised up to moist excuses. so I'm just going to knuckle down, walk with a limp, act crazy and read a huge copy of American Psycho. Just kidding. It will be a new experience and should be quite fascinating. You never know I could be on a high profiled case and write a book about and it afterwards and make a million dollars. ;-)

This Friday 'Return to the hiding place' A movie I star in alongside John Rhys Davies, David Thomas Jenkins and Rachel Spencer Hewitt  (Check out the trailer below) is playing in LA at the Life festival.  It'd be great to have some support there.  A few of us already have tickets.
To buy yours go to http://lifefilmfest.com/tickets/. and buy individual tickets for just $9 with our special Promotional Code (S10).

Have fun, be safe and see you at one of the breakfasts

Orchard Education, LLC is a NEW tutoring service in the Southern California area, direct from the UK.

Orchard Education has had a successful tutoring company in the UK for over 12 years.  British teacher and Owner of two Private Schools, Glen Barker, set up a tutoring centre that he has now brought over to the USA.  Glen, with his business partner David have hand selected the tutors to follow on in the philosophy that has achieved outstanding results in the UK.  The main philosophy is that you need to establish a good working relationship between child and teacher and adopt a more holistic look at each individual: "It doesn't always matter what you teach the children but HOW?"

There are 3 choices for tutoring … 1. Homework Help: 2. Confidence boosting (the most popular choice in the UK) and 3. Subject/grade/exam specific lessons.

Glen and David will match the tutor to your child's specific needs.

For all Brits in LA readers, there is a special 10% reduction on your first 2 trials lessons! Send an email to find out more

My friend and yours Gene Franklin Smith needs our help to restore the time-worn theater.
A week ago at an exclusive event, I announced our dynamic 2013-14 Season: an off-Broadway hit, a Pulitzer-Prize winner, a lyrical Irish romance, a musical revue of 1960's Broadway musicals, and Noel Coward's scandalous first play.

Gene was brought in to re-launch Malibu Stage Company as Malibu Playhouse and produce high-quality plays and musicals and restore our image as one of the premier theaters in the Los Angeles area.

To be frank, the physical theater itself is run-down, neglected and presents potential safety issues for the casts, crews, staff and children's groups who work there.

For as little as $10, you can help.  For a bit more, there are some fantastic rewards that you can claim for your tax-deductible donation.

Please click here, and you'll be brought to the Indiegogo Campaign page.
Malibu Playhouse needs some TLC, and with your help, we can, together, create a beautiful theater where you can proudly bring family, friends and business associates to be entertained and enriched.

Meet Evan Bolton from Audi Pacific who also works under the LA Car Guy Umbrella. He is very experienced with the Foreign Business Professional Leasing plan, so if you prefer something a bit more up market, definitely talk to him about getting an Audi. You  can even do it all over email so if you are coming from the UK you can have a car ready for your arrival! Ask nicely and he might pick you up from the airport too! They have some great specials at the moment so drop him a line to find out more EvanBolton@LACarGuy.com

HOROSCOPES

ARIES
Be very low key and don’t make any waves over anything as the current life situation will be here for some time ahead. Its time to spring clean either your home or yourself. Take a friends advice on a romantic opportunity.

TAURUS
Write a list of priorities and start with the biggest as your ruler Venus in your sign just might be helping you as the month progresses especially in romance and relationship. Happy Birthday.

GEM
Time to deal with what has been hidden so far this month from yourself or others
as Uranus the trouble maker is hanging out in the area of family/ friends and close relationships.

CAN
A positive beginning and make peace or amends with any one or any thing that has caused you upset as chances are you did not see the picture clearly!! This Month moves will not be as fast as hoped.

LEO
The good news is if you take control it will be sorted completely, however if you allow more time to go by. Nothing will happen anytime soon. Any trip taken before mid month will not achieve what you are looking for.

VIR
If any area of life currently is not going as smoothly as you expect you can let go of
worry about the outcome all will be well in the end. Please find some thing to change that’s need too change, the help will be there.

LIB
The main lesson of this month is that its time to make decisions not something Libra is good at. Whichever area of your life this shows up be sure to deal with it promptly as it will not go away and could be a lot more work in the end.

SCOR
After the events of the past few weeks the big build up and fast let downs you would think enough is enough for even the strongest willed soul. Well let’s hope you have woken up to the fact you are the one to make things happen now.

SAG
Take the bull by the horns and this week ahead should be the right time to make changes where required. If you have any financial situation pending rally yourself and get moving soonest.
CAP
If you are hanging on waiting for some kind of decision from another don’t wait .Take action on your own behalf and make the result you are looking for .You are the motivating force now in a good way.

AQU
Well what will happen in life if you sit around and wait for something to happen .Go out and make waves .This part of the year is ripe for you to make the changes and don’t expect that nothing will work or else nothing will work.

PISC
Its all work and no play for you this week so do what has to be done and do not  allow others to tell you how or what to do .Its time to make life a bit more interesting and its right around the corner if you want to look.

Comments

  1. I thought that the Malibu papers recently reported that the Malibu Stage Company building was up for sale. Did someone purchase it? (Sorry I'm traveling right now and a bit behind the local news)...

  2. Hi. I don't know if anyone purchased it - but they have a new season starting very soon.
