If you are new to LA you maybe interested to know that you don’t need an American credit score to buy or lease a car, there is such thing as an International Leasing plan that both Volkswagen, Santa Monica and Audi Pacific offer, that takes into account your credit score back home and proof of some sort of visa to work in the USA. Email Artem or Jordan at Volkswagen, SM or Evan Bolton at Audi Pacific at  to find out how you can get into a car hassle free - these guys have helped countless Brits in LA members already.

Plus both dealerships have committed to donating $100 per vehicle leased or sold to

Editor's Letter

Okay Breeps, so there’s nothing worse than being sick in LA, and when I say sick I mean poorly.

In LA you don't have to be physically sick to be ‘sick(?) Firstly, Why on earth would you be sick? the weather is perfect, everyone is super healthy and germaphobic “Have you tried this new peach watermelon hand sanitizer from Erewhon?” “Do you like my new perfume, it’s Lysol” “I don’t shake hands lets fist-bump.” The ocean breeze, the super-fit people and the supermightymultijellyvitamin bears (Yum!)....But for some reason it happens a lot and to a lot. “I can’t come out tonight I’m sick” “I overdid it last night, I’m sick” “I’m feeling like I’m about to get sick.”
Hollywood Flu
SICK = Rundown, not 100%, the common cold, a 24 hour bug, nausea, vomiting, fever, flu, food-poisoning, allergies, sinus infection. (insert ailment here) I find the main reason is that people are just plain hung-over and in Britain this is an okay answer, “Well done, my Son. - Good on ya, Stellar night out” - But in LA, for some bizarre reason people don’t want to reveal or admit to themselves that they over-indulged last night) In Britain it seems a right of passage for any teenager, 20 something (insert any age) to get steaming and legless. It appears that if you don’t wake the next day without a well deserved hangover, the night before was all in vain and obviously wasn’t ‘EPIC.’ Which leads me nicely to...

...BARMEGGEDON! Brits in LA having been hosting monthly pub crawls for about two years now. And this Saturday will see the biggest yet. Hitting five British pubs between Hollywood and the Valley (check our website for the route.) And our mode of transport? A double decker bus, of course. This is going to be extremely fun and make for an EPIC evening. Two reasons for going ‘Large’ this time is to tie-in with the film release of “The World’s End’ An apocalyptic drinking movie but with lots of Zombies thrown in. (I think?) “C’mon? two of our most favourite things right? starring the British comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and written and directed by longtime collaborator Edgar Wright- In theatres, Aug 23
Newcastle Brown Ale are coming along and throwing some great giveaways along the way, including gift cards, pint glasses, bottle openers etc and giving our passengers some discounted drinks along the way.
And the second reason being -- it’s our 6th birthday.

“Happy Birthday to us.... “ Brits in LA was founded Aug 15. 2007 with just a few friends having breakfast together and a good catch-up. Thank you to all our members who have helped shape the British community and given it a very good name and here’s to a great night of celebrations and a hangover worth getting! ;-)
As well as pub-crawl, there’ll be the regular Breakfast Club every Tuesday and The Sunday Roast at ‘The Pikey.’
But meanwhile...

Eileen and I are busy planning ‘DEAD BRITISH 2’ -The return of our Halloween Party -where you dress up as either a dead British person or something Dead (Very) British --
The Last invite: Oct 31st Save the date.

Before I go I’d like to give a shout out to my good friend and collaborator Darren Darnborough, who seems to be on fire with a gig on CBS Sitcom ‘Two broke Girls’ and the screening of his movie with Danny Trejo at the Action On Film Festival in Los Angeles called “Darkness Descending.” also nominated for 9 awards. Playing Sunday Aug 18th, 830pm - Way to go Bruv! Tickets:

Have a great week ahead Breeps and I hope I’m not feeling sick when I write next time (;-p) Cheers! Hic!

P.S. Last Friday we saw Phil Crosby Jr (grandson of Bing Crosby) Hollywood Royalty perform downtown at the Cicada Club .  He was amazing as was the space - Will let you know when he next performs - definitely felt like we were in an episode of 'Good night sweet heart'

3rd annual Proper English Fry Up weekend in honor of the start of the Premiere League season.  We made our own bangers, back bacon and black pudding in house!  All incredibly delicious! Due to the difficulty in getting authentic ingredients, this year we bought a pig, butchered it and made our own bangers, back bacon and blood sausage. Really. We are serving all that with Heinz baked beans and HP Sauce (some things can't be improved upon!) fried toast, eggs and tomatoes. We even have PG Tips!  Hope you can stop by!  We are open this weekend Sat & Sun. Our address is: the village bakery and cafe

Casting notice: Looking for British ladies 25-65 living in LA or OC that is living the American dream. They have made it here in the US. Either they are the bread winners or maybe they have or had a husband that´s the bread winner. They have the beautiful home, they are fashionable always dressed like they are ready for a red carpet event. They have a full fun life here in the US and have become more or less Americanized. They need to have BIG personalities and love being the center of attention in their own TV show. Think of a Lisa Vanderpump kind of woman. This show will be filmed in LA but broadcast in England.

They might wonder what do I get out of it? Well except for getting paid our previous women we had on the show are now so famous that they are like royalty in their country. They have their own clothing line, wine collection, handbag line, china-line,  acting jobs, their own lipstick within a famous cosmetic line, restaurant dishes named after them, they are covergirls, most popular sought after bloggers, they do big national commercials, they host TV shows, being the star contestant on Dancing with the stars back home, have their own radio shows, they are non stop being interviewed in magazines or the biggest TV shows like a European Letterman… and maybe best of all their own spin off show just to mention a few things that has been presented to them after they have been on the show. This season for Sweden we are lucky to have an A-list celeb/actress in Sweden that was a Bond girl, she was married to legendary men like Peter Sellers and Rod Stewart… Britt Ekland. Please contact Sophia Eng if interested.

'A Midsummer Night's Dream' directed by Tim Robbins. Last 3 weeks! 2 for 1 for BLA members- just use the code, "puck"

"Why is this Night different from all other Nights? To start with, it’s smart, it’s imaginative, it’s beautiful, it makes sense of the peculiar world Shakespeare created. It takes the titular dream to heart, as characters shape-shift and locales subtly morph. Still, the text is clear. Under the direction of Tim Robbins and starring a mere 12 actors, it’s one of the best versions to have graced LA stages in recent decades." Arts in LA

Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Sunset Boulevard" From Musical Theatre West

Hollywood noir meets Broadway razzle-dazzle in Sunset Boulevard, Andrew Lloyd Weber's musical adaptation of Billy Wilder's classic film. Complemented by one of Weber's most radiant scores, Sunset Boulevard is every bit as enthralling, dark and delicious as the original black-and-white masterpiece. Sidelined by the introduction of "talkies," silent movie star Norma Desmond longs for a return to the big screen. Her neediness and cunning provide the perfect trap for down-and-out screenwriter Joe Gillis who wanders into her decaying mansion looking for a quick buck ... and gets much more in return. She is amazing!

The new moon this past week in Leo will bring a nurturing side of you out
So take advantage of this opportunity to shine in your loved ones eyes. Mars your ruler goes in to Leo soon and you will see rewards.

You have to clear all tasks and make space for a new beginning in the area of work
By the end of this month you will be able to chill out a little, however in the mean time be focused.

What do you want to achieve by your present actions? Who do you want to impress or push away .These are important questions for your attention this week and so with this in mind maybe you need to try a little harder to get some body’s attention.

Be careful traveling this week ahead as the planets can throw you a wobbler of a time. Make plenty of time for departing and keep an eye on your belongings at all times. Jupiter is visiting you for a long time so many things can be achieved.

The new moon in your sign is very important for you especially if you are signing papers or buying a large item .Just be sure to clarify all the terms before you sign.
Happy Birthday.

Most likely the work arena will not as you would wish but that’s life and as time and tide waits for no man do not dally when you need to take action in this area. Electrical items may need to be replaced large or small.

As your lovely ruler is in the subconscious of your life currently sitting back and not taking action sounds good, however will not be good for you in the long run .Take action where you should and don’t procrastinate.

Jupiter the luck bringer will be blessing you a lots in the coming months as he sits in your cousin sign of Cancer .It is also a grand opportunity to release old hurts and patterns of behavior An unresolved situation is coming to your attention this month.

Just watch that temper if things don’t always go the way you planned life is an adventure.
and you need to remember that child like quality which is so unique to you. You may be
worried about family members try to be non confrontational.

.This could be the month that it all makes sense what ever this means to you.You need to pay close attention to how your emotions react to this situation and how you are feeling .Health and emotions are tied together and you need to work at feeling good now.

You will always get back what you put out and just be careful you don’t say to much to another  that can really blow your plans .Keep your thoughts or judgments to your self is best. A short trip out of town will lift your spirits.

You may be worried or concerned about your own or a someone else health recently. While it is a concern, the outlook is good with so many positive planets in water. You may have to look at this current situation as a wake up call to enjoy your life more.

In honor of One Direction who just played
sold out nights at the Staples
