Hi Breeps!

Halloween used to be for kids, well not anymore and definitely not in LA! Kids better watch their candy especially at The Brits in LA second Dead British party sponsored by VW Santa Monica and Beltran Brito Immigration Attorneys. It was a raving success - Entry fee got you a free cocktail, a lucky dip prize, Pizza slices from Lucifers and more candy than Willy Wonka’s factory. At one of hollywood’s hottest bars Bar Lubitsch.

Members Oskar Rodriguez and Marc cleary Liberacied it up

'Plastic Love’ our favourite dj’s of the year spun the most amazing party choons - From “Thriller” to Snap’s “I got the power” - Love a good throwback number! and in usual tradition Eileen and I got to genderbend (in costumes) -She was a delectable Dennis the Menace - (the brit one from the comic book ‘The Beano’ while I opted for a luscious ‘hairy’ Liz Taylor.

One of our latest obsessions to have at our parties is the amazing photo booth company ‘Barebox’ It takes an image every 5 seconds, so captures everything and anything. Then they edit for you and selection 500 or so of the best images and share directly on to social media. - Genius! As always many thanks to our volunteers Lorraine Wilkinson, Claudia Frances and Ewan Chung. our wonderful Tarot Reader Naketa Starkey.

Heath Deatherage won best male costume
Felicity Wren one best female costume
Our best dressed winners were Heath Deatherage and Felicity Wren, chosen by Bar Lubitsch manager Aaron.

Needless to say training with ’Your Body By Design’ in the morning wasn't very fun. And thanks to all the Brits in LA female members on the best tips to remove eye make-up in the morning - Vaseline was the winner with a q-tip. (just in case you need to know boys!)

We also checked out a very British public house called The Churchill (8384 W. 3rd street, Mid city. CA 90048. named after our beloved Prime minister, Winston. Now if you are thinking of catering your dinner for thanksgiving this year, take a look at perhaps hiring a British chef, Marcus Baird owns Feast Catering, and Eileen and I had the opportunity to sample his wares. Mini Yorkshire puds with roast beef and horseradish, Fig and cheese brochettes, Sliced duck on frittatas. Braised short ribs on root mash. Just really amazing! He can cater anywhere for a small intimate dinner at home right up to wedding parties for hundreds. etc… check out his website at www.feastcatering.com

THERE'S A NEW BILL IN TOWN
From Huffington Post
Federal Reserve Board Issues Redesigned $100 Note
The Federal Reserve on recently began supplying financial institutions with a redesigned $100 note that incorporates new security features to deter counterfeiters and help businesses and consumers tell whether a note is genuine.
Distance, demand, and the policies of individual financial institutions will influence how quickly the redesigned notes reach businesses and consumers around the world.

“The new design incorporates security features that make it easier to authenticate, but harder to replicate,” said Federal Reserve Board Governor Jerome H. Powell. “As the new note transitions into daily transactions, the user-friendly security features will allow the public to more easily verify its authenticity.”

The Federal Reserve, U.S. Department of the Treasury, U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the U.S. Secret Service partner to redesign Federal Reserve notes to stay ahead of counterfeiting threats.

The redesigned $100 note includes two new security features: a blue 3-D security ribbon with images of bells and 100s, and a color-changing bell in an inkwell. The new features, and additional features retained from the previous design, such as a watermark, offer the public a simple way to visually authenticate the redesigned $100 note.

Consumers worldwide are advised that it is not necessary to trade in older-design $100 notes for new ones. It is U.S. government policy that all designs of U.S. currency remain legal tender, regardless of when they were issued.
For more information about the new design $100 note, as well as training and educational materials, visit www.newmoney.gov

"6 Years, 4 Months & 23 Days" a short film by John, has just been accepted by BAFTA for consideration for the forthcoming British Academy Film Awards.

The film has already had festival success, winning:
Best Live Action Short at the Phoenix Film Festival,
Audience Award for World Cinema at the San Jose International Short Film Festival,
Honorable Mention at the California Shorts Film Festival and
Runner Up at the Slamdance Screenplay Competition.

Here's hoping the BAFTA Members Nominating Committee also likes it!

The film also stars Misha Crosby (The Lying Game) and Stef Dawson, who has just been cast as Annie Cresta in the next two The Hunger Games "Mockingjay" movies. It was directed by Award Winning Scots director Gerard Roxburgh (Once I was a Champion.)

Michael Ward's seminal (and long out-of-print) book on the history of
Everest exploration has just been republished.

Here is the link to where people can buy it. It's beautifully illustrated, and considered authoritative because he initiated the 1951 Reconnaissance and was on the '53 First Ascent, also a champion and pioneer of the science that took them to the top. A great Xmas present.
