Editor's Letter

....(Not) home again, but around the Santa Monica bay with skipper and Editor at large - Neil Fletcher.
Lucky us were treated by the British Weekly along with Anne Shaw the paper's astrologer to a day sail. ( Located on Bali Way in the Marina
Temperatures were a beautiful 78 degrees with spectacular views. I even got to steer the gorgeous beast a few times. (I think my great grandfather Captain Smith of the Titanic would be proud)
Champagne and beer was flowing and Pringles and Doritos were consumed joyfully. Eileen and Anne kept us entertained by singing some good ol' fashioned Christmas songs on the way back.
Once on dry land Neil treated us to a spectacular meal, a great Italian feast where we were joined by Mirelle who also works for the paper compiling all the DBA's. Then Neil also played Santa, the girls got gifts to the Riviera Hotel(  in Palm Springs while the lads are getting pampered at Raven Spa. ( Bliss!

Eileen visited the British Consulate Christmas luncheon this week and hobnobbed with our new General Consulate, Chris O'Connor .

TipForJesus Invades The Pikey, Drops $1,750 Tip

Photo: TipsForJesus/Instagram
Christmas came early yesterday to Steve Lucarelli, a waiter at Hollywood pubThe Pikey. Last night two guys in suits ordered a burger and the vegan curry plus a Laddie Dill and a whiskey to drink, adding a $1,750 tip to an $88 bill. Stamped with the TipsForJesus badge, this is the handiwork of mystery tipping clan TipsForJesus, those responsible for thousands of dollars in tips at restaurants and bars across the country.
Restaurant staff say that the TipsForJesus guys were low key, and when it came time to pay they told Lucarelli that the service, food and drink was phenomenal, and not to freak out, that they would be leaving a large tip and that it was for real. Just like reports in the past, they paid with a black AMEX.
And this isn't the first time TipsForJesus hit Los Angles. Right around Thanksgiving TipsForJesus left $1,000 each at The Hungry Cat and Fig & Olive and $500 at Jumbo's Clown Room.
While the identity of TipsForJesus is not known, Eater National was able to scorean e-mail interview with the mysterious mega tippers last week.

It's been an amazing year for us at Brits in LA - Starting with our Toscars competition was our biggest to date - 600 people gathered to watch Miserable Lesbians take top honors.

We celebrated the birth of Prince George with a great get together at The Palihouse.

In the Summer we had some epic pub crawls including the pub bus tour to the valley sponsored by the movie "The World's End"

We also launched our key members discount and elite program offering free screenings and discounts to our events and great restaurants around town.

We relaunched our Pub Quiz at The Pikey where we have quite a few celebs join us notably Ron Jeremy, who's become somewhat of a regular.

He won the raffle last week, a huge Cadbury's finger - which he kindly shared with everyone. ;-)
Our 'Dead British' Halloween was a huge success at Bar Lubitsch

Our photography competition for Heifer International, Rankin and Talenthouse

We celebrated 50 years of Dr.Who with members of the cast in appearance

...and we ended the year with a sophisticated holiday celebration at Pearl's on Sunset, where our member and volunteer Len took the role of Santa.

And last, but not least we joined the British Weekly as contributors.

Thanks  to all our sponsors throughout the year and for you for staying with us and being a part of this great community, we look forward to many more years to come.

I'll be spending Christmas close-by this year in sunny Palm Springs. I hope whatever you are planning that you have the most joyous time.

The Steward of Christendom at the Mark Taper Forum

Brian Dennehy battles the epic tides of change brandishing the double-edged sword of memory.
In the wake of Ireland’s bloody struggle for independence, Thomas Dunne is a casualty of a vanished order. A Roman Catholic and former Dublin police officer still loyal to the crown, he is displaced and alone, save for visits by loved ones from his past in a parade of bittersweet reminiscences.
This profound and poignant story is made unforgettable by an extraordinary performance from one of our greatest living actors. Two-time Tony Award® winner Brian Dennehy (Death of a SalesmanLong Day’s Journey Into Night) renders a hauntingly tender portrayal of a loving father and devoted soldier at the end of his life: raging with delusions of grandeur one moment, humbled and begging for comfort in the next.
The Steward of Christendom illuminates with remarkable grace and compassion an important character in Ireland’s past left out of the history books: a devout and principled man and his spiritual quest for consolation and redemption when everything he loves is taken away.
“Perhaps only Ireland could give birth to a theater work quite so grandly and ripely word-driven.”
– The New York Times

Its time for some kind of change in your routine what ever works a short trip out of town or planning a longer one later .You are the center of attraction this week. Have a great Christmas holiday.

On occasion you can pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and this will be a definite chance this week ahead to do this when unexpected guests arrive for the holidays. Be happy ahead of time.

You will have a house guest in your head this holidays you will know soon enough if this is a good or not so good guest it may be your conscience. You have still time to make sure a past promise is fulfilled .Enjoy the holidays.

The past year has not been what you  perhaps expected for sure not what was your plan .However you have to remember the old saying the greatest plans of mice and men !! Jolly Holidays

Yes this is a time for the inner strength to show itself for some of you who are not participating in life as this holiday season progresses .It is  not a time of self pity however it will be you don’t take action now. Happy Christmas.

Its time for a trip and even a day away is OK, just so you benefit from the change of scenery. Just make sure you have no set plans however as things are apt to change quickly. Be generous this holiday season.

By mid week or so you have will something you need to get completed that you forgot about probably nothing to do with the season. When this is done you will feel ready for the holidays. Happy Christmas.

Well here it is again the holiday of the year in all its finery and its time now to dress up and join friends and family Even if has not been the best of years in many ways the best you can do is wave it goodbye with blessings .Happy Jingle Bells

A new venture will brighten up your life in a few weeks and you will have to keep a handle on those finances until then .Be dressed to be noticed this week ahead especially in any work related party .Happy Christmas.

The changes in life start with your thought process so therefore no” Bah Humbug” this year in regard to celebrating over the holidays . Make sure you are generous to those who have been” there” for you .Happy Christmas

It the time of year to celebrate not be gloomy especially if you have been out of sorts or a little blue moody recently. You may have an extra guest drop by for a visit .Look your best it could be a new romance or friend.. Happy  Holidays.

Be ready for an unexpected change of plans this Christmas week .It is always good to have a financial limit set especially with family members and even more important with any one who may hit you up for a loan . Happy Jingle Bells .

Best Xmas gift for the smelly ones in your family - lol

Best invention ever!!!!
