Editor's Letter
Hi Everyone!
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, where ever  in the world you spent it?!
Christmas Eve Breakfast Club (sponsored by Next Stop LAX), was surprisingly busy this week. We will be there for New Years Eve breakfast too. It's at Cecconi’s on Melrose (cross street is Robertson) in West Hollywood. Stop in anytime between 9.30-11. Don’t hesitate to come alone - I will be there next week so feel free to come and sit with me.

Our lovely Mayor of Breakfast, Bernard Skibben was playing Santa Claus, by dishing out yummy Christmas cookies to everyone. It really helped to get us into the festive spirit, despite it being 80 degrees that day! It even inspired a few of us to get together for Midnight Mass at St Thomas the Apostle church (Hollywood Blvd at Gardener). Father Ian, conducted a really lovely service. He hails from Wales originally - so it certainly felt for a moment that us ex-pats were back in Britain. We sang a few carols and then he hosted a little reception after the mass too. Visit the website for more info.
Christmas Day was particularly exciting for me - as one of my very talented sisters, Sally Norris, became the first woman to direct and produce the Queens Speech !To say I am proud is an understatement! I loved her choice of using behind the scenes footage, and was very impressed she managed to get the Queen to comment on a personal level about the loss of her father.
I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did? Fingers crossed the Palace did too!
My niece Tallulah, didn't seem to like it very much though...

I also managed to catch a bit of comedy at Largo (366 N. La Cienaga, West Hollywood). Most of you probably know Jack Black from Hollywood Films like The School of Rock, Shallow Hal or the brilliant Tropic Thunder? However, he along with Kyle Gass, make up the absolutely brilliant and hilariously funny rock band Tenacious D.
They are local lads, and often play around LA.
Highly recommend you get tickets if you ever get a chance (they usually sell out within 24 hours!!). Jack Black also starred in a movie called ‘Be Kind Rewind”.
This was actually the inspiration for starting our annual short film competition The ToscarsI do hope you will join us on February 26th for the 7th Annual Toscars screening and the awards ceremony. We are hosting at the historic Egyptian Theatre again, which is apparently also the site of the very first red carpet event to occur in Hollywood!
It is a really a fabulous night, definitely the highlight of the Oscar season for me! To view the films from the previous 6 years, visit our website
If you are interested in participating in a film we still have a few spots left. Find your inner parody!  Tickets Here

Brits in LA present Burns Night!
Saturday, January 25th
We are also delighted to announce that the plans for our first ever Burns Night are coming together very nicely. I have never even been to one before, but fortunately there are lots of Scots in the group who are eager to help and make sure we get it right. Lorne Cousin (bagpiper to the stars - including Madonna!) will be piping in the haggis, and thanks to William Grant & Sons, The Balvenie and Glenfiddich will be flowing!
Ticket information to follow, but for now save the date of January 25th, its going to be a good ‘un!
We are constantly updating our Brits Gigging in LA page . Just added - Spiritualized , who will be playing 2 nights to coincide with the grand opening for the Ace Hotel Theatre in Downtown LA.  They sold out within 3 hours though, but hopefully they will add another date!

Jake Bugg is back again too, and so are the Kaiser Chiefs. Nightmare and the Cat will be playing on January 16th at the Bootleg Bar in Silverlake. Coincidentally their dad, Dave Stewart is playing on the 30th of January at the El Rey.

Congratulations to one of our longtime Brits in LA members, Kavana. He has just announced that he will be part of the Big Reunion Tour in 2014!

Thats all for this week, Happy New Year to you all and see you in 2014!

Brian Dennehy battles the epic tides of change brandishing the double-edged sword of memory.
In the wake of Ireland’s bloody struggle for independence, Thomas Dunne is a casualty of a vanished order. A Roman Catholic and former Dublin police officer still loyal to the crown, he is displaced and alone, save for visits by loved ones from his past in a parade of bittersweet reminiscences.
This profound and poignant story is made unforgettable by an extraordinary performance from one of our greatest living actors. Two-time Tony Award® winner Brian Dennehy (Death of a SalesmanLong Day’s Journey Into Night) renders a hauntingly tender portrayal of a loving father and devoted soldier at the end of his life: raging with delusions of grandeur one moment, humbled and begging for comfort in the next.
The Steward of Christendom illuminates with remarkable grace and compassion an important character in Ireland’s past left out of the history books: a devout and principled man and his spiritual quest for consolation and redemption when everything he loves is taken away.
“Perhaps only Ireland could give birth to a theater work quite so grandly and ripely word-driven.”
– The New York Times
