Starting the week right with Angela Mccluskey

You'd think by now I'd have learnt to keep an open mind when it comes to almost everything in LA but one thing I assumed I'd never have to question is the universal fact that nothing good comes out of a Monday. So as I headed out to Bardot in Hollywood at the beginning of this week, I had all the usual Monday feelings of impending deadlines and overhanging guilt from the weekend. The kind that is meant to stop you having too much fun. However, my pessimism was overriden once again, firstly by the beautifully atmospheric and intimate venue that is Bardot and secondly by the inimitable Angela Mccluskey. By the time she took to the stage, the place was packed with people who clearly know how to start their week off in the right way: with damn good music. Playing songs from her new record 'Lambeth Palace', this was my first introduction to Angela apart from the praises being sung before her set. I was immediately struck by the fact that she had the room under her thumb…

Hey Breeps! Well what a week was that, firstly we bought the rain last Tuesday for The Toscars - but that didn't put a damper on the evenings event - The stars came out to support Brits in LA members on their big fun night. Congrats to Marina Paganucci, Team leader for Miserable Lesbians which took home the big award. All movies deserve a mention too, as they were all brilliant - well done everyone.
Lots of thanks are due from our wonderful volunteers, the participants, the committee, judges, host and everyone that helped out . I also went to Elton John's Oscar party last night and saw Emeli Sande perform and she was amazing. The Elton John …

How should I eat to lose fat? by JC Mac
A question I get asked by my clients week in week out is how should I eat to lose fat?
This week I would like to touch on diet, a mind boggling complex subject right? It is but in my opinion only if you let it be, the simpler, fresher and more natural you can keep your diet the better. Unfortunately there is so much disinformation in food labeling and marketing, who the hell can understand any of that? I don’t want to get fat so I shall stop eating fat correct? Wrong!!! For example low fat generally means high sugar and guess what, sugar is your number one enemy, that’s right not fat but sugar. Followed by processed food which generally has had all the goodness beaten out of it and is now full of, you’ve guessed it sugar and salt for good measure. So when your local grocery store advertises low fat food chances are it’s not always going to be better for you. In fact many processed foods are even worse off because of their low fat content. Sure, low…
