Steve Sidelnyk's Football Blog 7th February 2014

Not only have the Winter Olympics in Russian resort city of Sochi been called a festival of corruption, but they've also managed to muscle in on the way we watch our beloved game here in the United States of America and lo and behold now that NBC have live coverage of the action from Sarah Palin's next door neighbors, its brought to you at a price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO live Premiership games with only matches being broadcast later in the morning so if you want to pretend that you live on the East Coast , so you can actually get up at a reasonable hour and watch a game at a more civilized time : O ) .........That game tomorrow is the Welsh derby between manager-less Swansea City and second to bottom club Cardiff City....can't wait!!!!!!
Those of you who love a bit of sleep depravation are treated to a wonderful game between Championship leaders Leicester versus Fat Reg's team Watford, and this can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports 2.....a fair trade off in my eyes.....I mean would I really want to watch Liverpool v Arsenal or indeed Chelsea v Newcastle??????
So a couple of weeks ago there were the FA Cup matches with a side note to mention poor Everton's Bryan Oviedo's double leg break trying to stop a shot and World Cup casualty number 2 as Costa Rica will surely miss this fantastic player and we all wish him the very best in his recovery. Everton beat Stevenage 4-0 but at a very costly price.
All the big teams progress to the next round and no real surprises apart from Nigel Clough's Sheffield United grabbing a last minute of injury time winner in the London replay, against a Premiership bottom of the table Fulham side that served some sweet Yorkshire pudding to those prawn cocktail eating, shandy drinking Cottagers.......and I mean that with the utmost respect.....see you in the Championship!
The match of the week Premiershipwise goes to a traveling Chelsea side who dismantled the mighty sky blue goal machine of Manchester City and poached a 1-0 win curtesy of a wonderful strike by Branislav Ivanovic and The Special One afterwards claiming that they weren't even considering winning the Premiership title............Wins for Arsenal, Sunderland, West Ham, Cardiff, Everton, Southampton with draws between West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool, Hull and Tottenham.......Oh and I nearly forgot.......Stoke City beat Manchester United 2-1...........and Nemanja Vidic, captain and arguably their best defensive player and header of the ball, leaves!...........David Moyes...NOT so special : O ) All change at the top again!
So back to those poor lads who manage the millionaires that inhabit the worlds number one league and are used as scapegoats (not you Moyes! ) and their comings and goings so far this season.
Poor old Michael Laudrup after winning the League Cup with Swansea a year ago he is sacked on February 4th!!!!!.....Here is a list of the comings and goings in the last few years of managers in the Premiership :
