HOW TO APPLY FOR YOUR U.S BORN CHILD'S UK PASSPORT

CHECK ELIGIBILTY:
CHILDREN BORN BEFORE 1 JULY 2006
To acquire British nationality:
The father of the child (named on the birth certificate) has to be married to the child’s birth mother i.e. child born legitimate

CHILDREN BORN FROM 1 JULY 2006
The father of the child just has to be named on the birth certificate i.e. whether child born legitimate or illegitimate.

To apply for passports you need to go on the website https://www.gov.uk

This link will now bring you to ‘START NOW’: https://www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passport

You will then go to New User and start the application. 

This would be a ‘first time’ application. 

If the mother is British you will need to send:

the child’s original birth certificate with parents names on. This should be issued within 3 months of the birth as birth certificates are different from ones issued in the UK. If issued after 3 months then any back up ID, i.e baby hospital records.
