New Royal Portrait for Diamond Jubilee

In the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle

The portrait is to mark the forthcoming Diamond jubilee and was taken by German artist Thomas Struth
The picture is to go on display tomorrow at the Scottish National Gallery as part of its touring exhibition The Queen: Art  and Image . The tour moves to Ireland at the end of the summer then on to Wales in February. I'm not sure whether I like it or not...I think I prefer the little more formal portraits of old. But I definitely prefer it over Chris Levine's "Lightness of Being" portrait that was unveiled in 2004 (see below)
