Hi  Breeps,

Happy labor day! Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers.

Lots of fun events happening from our Theatre Club, Skydiving and a wine-tasting trip.
We have updated the newsletter somewhat - so make sure to read to the end for all special offers and members news...
I have been Big Brother obsessed this past month, with not only the US series, even watching after dark on Showtime, but keeping up with UK celebrity version on Youtube, featuring such *stars* as Kerry Katona, Mr. Paparazzi, Tara Reid and the very funny 'Jedwood'. So I was very surprised to see a friend of mine and a Brits in LA member Bobby Sabel enter the house, Great guy but hardly a celebrity. Very successful model, but unlike the others not surrounded in scandal, or falling out of bars, has never had any addiction that he needed to overcome, or had several column inches in the trashy tabloids. Something tells me that will all change wants he exits on Thursday, whether he is crowned the winner or not. - I hope he's prepared.
I spent a little time down at Redondo Beach too - which is definitely worth a day out, visit the pier, Ive never seen so many fisherman and there's a place there where you can purchase a Japanese oyster for $12, the guy will crack it open and if your lucky you may win a pearl or two, which he appraises for you and can make into jewelry on the spot. My sister got a pair of matching black pearls in one oyster, which were appraised at $77 and she had them set into a ring, a nice little bonus to the day.

Have a great week all!

I was lucky to see the Totally 80's night at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring Berlin, Fixx, The B-52's and Human League (see above) The crowd went wild with the B-52's who sang such hits as 'Roam', 'Rock Lobster' and of course 'Love Shack' They sounded great and had the crowd all warmed up for The Human League, a shaved-head Phil Oakley used the whole of the stage strutting his stuff through-out the numbers, including 'Lebanon', 'Tell Me When' 'Fascination' and Global mega hit -'Don't You Want Me' while the girls swayed behind microphones looking sultry and glamorous. The music was great and was awesome to sing-a-long to, but my only criticism was the sets and the lighting which left a lot to be desired. But i guess it was in keeping to the totally '80'S theme.

Attack the Block
Have you caught the British Sleeper hit 'Attack the Block' yet Playing at the Arclight. It's from the producers of 'SHAUN OF THE DEAD'  A fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London housing estate into a sci-fi playground. A tower block into a fortress under siege. And teenage street kids into heroes. It's inner city versus outer space.

A Kiss and A Promise is a thriller/murder/cop story staring Mick Rossi, Sean Power and Natasha Gregson Wagner. Mick plays, David Beck a serial killer with a craving for killing young women and having sex with his wife Samantha and their renter Charlie. This film is filled with graphic sexuality and is very well written by Mick Rossi & Phillip Guzman.
A Kiss and A Promise takes place in a calm Ontario town. The environment made the film feel real with beautiful country scenes. As you watch the movie, you will be taken to a cold and calm place, which is perfect for the dark characters. The main characters live in a small Bed and Breakfast with a wicked secret. The Bed and Breakfast is a perfect layer for this quiet and demented killer. David Beck starts as a very simple man, normal in every way. Then, you see the sociopath come out. The story is filled with great characters and it keeps your attention through detailed dialog and surprising actions from all of the main characters. Mick Rossi captured the soul of a killer like no one I have ever seen. His role as David Beck drove the action and makes this film a must see.
A Kiss and A Promise takes you into a world of sex, lust and murder that most movies try but don’t capture. The climax of the film exposes the gloomy side of the human psyche. Look for this film when it comes out on September 9, 2011. You will not be disappointed. If you are a big fan of thrillers, A Kiss and A Promise is a must see.

I have been noticing a lot lately that some Brits come over, get settled and get a pet, of course sounds like a great idea and most end up in great loving homes, while others are abandoned or have to find new homes for their animals, due to visa problems, financial problems or even landlord problems... It's a sad situation but I'd like to reach out and remind you to have a good think before taking on a pet, it really is a huge responsibility and it's very sad if you get attached and can't handle it. Think twice before committing.
