It appears one of our nations beloved sport is making an impact in LA. After last years Royal visit to California, which included Prince William playing in a charity match in Santa Barbara, the sport is gaining interest over here. This Spring Brits in LA members Ebe Sievwright, who is an avid player
and Deborah Stanley are organizing to separate charity matches, Ebe's is to benefit Bafta Los Angeles's outreach program and Deborah's is for the Celebrity Foundation for Children.

Ebe, who also teaches polo lessons, and kindly donated a couple of lessons to The Actors Fund silent auction at this years Toscars event has been organizing Pot luck polo days throughout the year and has teamed up with BAFTA Los Angeles' outreach program for a USA vs. UK match later in the year and Deborah, who is based in Orange County is in May.
Deborah says "We are raising money for which is run out of Newport Beach - and they provide much needed opportunities for children to have weekends away, camping at the Celebrity Ranch."

Check out the details below.
Charity Polo Match in aid of Girls and Boys club and the children of Camp Pendleton.
Charity Polo Match on May 12th, in Temecula and another in LA at the Will Rogers Polo Club on June 23rd. Children who are regular visitors are those from the Boys and Girls Club and many from children of Camp Pendleton Marine Base, who all have a parent that is deployed overseas.
Sadly, a staggering statistic; 872 Marines from camp Pendleton have died in Iraq and over 600 have died in Afghanistan. The children on the base are living in constant fear of losing their father or mother while serving our Country and when the flag is lowered to half staff, they are wondering whether this relates to their parent.

While living at Camp Pendleton, they have become “our children” and we owe it to their parents to take care of them while they are deployed. The Celebrity Ranch has been hosting these families for the past 5 years and last year, 2001 – they donated the entire month of August to the families of the Marines and Navy stationed here in Southern California. In fact, over 1000 family members will participate in weekend camps, family BBQs and vacations. Many of the children get to come and camp, feed the animals at the ranch and have camp fires and Smores ( something that many of them have never done)
Your participation in my Polo events or donations, would mean the world to me and would help provide even more children the opportunity to come and stay at the ranch for camping weekends – giving them a break from the military world – if only for a weekend.

The purchase of a box at our match or just organizing a box amongst your friends and colleagues is an act of kindness and gratitude to our local armed forces. We guarantee you will have a fun filled time with endless food, wine and champagne and of course, the excitement of a Polo match. Our boxes are $600 and will accommodate 8 people, comfortably. All of our Polo Players are donating their horses and time and we have a team traveling from Bel Air to play us on May 12th.
