If you are new to LA you maybe interested to know that you don’t need an American credit score to buy or lease a car, there is such thing as an International Leasing plan that both Volkswagen, Santa Monica and Audi Pacific offer, that takes into account your credit score back home and proof of some sort of visa to work in the USA. Email Artem or Jordan at Volkswagen, SM or Evan Bolton at Audi Pacific at  to find out how you can get into a car hassle free - these guys have helped countless Brits in LA members already.

Plus both dealerships have committed to donating $100 per vehicle leased or sold to

Editor's Letter

Hi Breeps.

I’m coming to the end of construction at the moment, and it's looking amazing. we are remodeling our kitchen but are hemorrhaging money fast. Renovating is NOT cheap and can be quite the headache. So I thought I’d share somethings I’ve learnt over the past four months.

EVERYTHING has to be approved by the city and EVERYTHING has to be built to code including having plug sockets every 10”  around your countertops - (weird) Bottom line is even if you own YOUR property you still can’t do what you want to it. When dealing with architects, contractors and designers, it’s very easy for your vision to be pushed and pulled into all different directions, because in this town opinions are like butt-h*les, everyone has one. Stay true! When they say it will be done in six weeks, what they really mean is 4 months. When something goes wrong they all like to blame each other and not take responsibility. Always best to do color samples on the walls and live with them for a few days before deciding, because it’s expensive and time consuming to have to repaint a whole room over. Chose hardware and light fixtures early on - as it can hold things up during the construction when waiting for items to be delivered or the ones you really liked are no longer in stock or have been sold.

Also try to work out how you want cabinets to open - might sound simple but if you aren’t clear at the beginning, your carpenter could hang the cabinet doors the wrong way - Have a walk around the space and feel what feels most natural - in this instance we had two doors hung that were difficult to open right to left - and much easier the other way. But yet again takes more time fixing a mistake than preventing it. When your appliances arrive, make sure you check all the contents over.
Almost there
Two instances for us where we didn’t do this

and the pot filler was broken when the plumber came to install it and the hood had a big scratch on the front -

So now we have to wait a couple of weeks for them to be delivered - See where the headaches come in? So by reading this hopefully if you are planing to go this process I may have saved you a little time a few dollars and headaches.

The showroom
The best way for me to relieve stress this week was by driving a new Aston Martin DB9 convertible around the streets of Beverly Hills. After Eileen and I attended the unveiling of the new Vanquish at Timothy Oulton’s showroom earlier in the week,

Vanquish Vanquished
Member Lorne Cousins takes the wheel
Members John Scott and Lucinda Ellery arrive in style

Eileen was a very good shotgun
British-born manager Paul Radford invited us to test drive one of the latest at their dealership (Aston Martin of Beverly Hills 125 S Robertson Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA (310) 659-4050)  Have to say it, this picture now sits proudly on my vision board along with a Oscar statuette and will be for sure included in this year’s letter to Santa.

It’s Labor day on Monday a perfect day to go out and do something different so why not go an visit OJAI for the day, the smell of lavender fields and lines of Orange groves overwhelm you upon arrival of this peaceful quaint little town - To read my full blog about Ojai, you can check here -  Breakfast club sponsored by Next Stop LAX ( was packed this week and it’s so nice to see so many creative connections being made - People are off writing songs together, making movies and content.  Speaking of songs... congrats to our member of the week Emrhys Cooper on the release of his first single ‘Hypnotized’ also written by my good friend Elaine Macaluso. We just came across this great website called Drive Hubber
It is perfect for Brits in LA members! So many of you are traveling or looking for rental cars. Drive Hubber operate out of the airport, which means you can drive to LAX in your own car (save on a taxi) then drop your car off with them (save on parking at the airport) then they will rent your car out whilst you are away! Visited their website to list your car today.  Any questions you can speak to Paul at Hubber

How it works:
pre-list your vehicle, and when someone wants to rent it you get free parking for your entire trip, a car wash, and fuel service.  If your car isn't booked prior to your trip, you will have enough time to still arrange a ride to the airport.
insurance is included in Hubber's rates which clears any confusion for visitors from abroad.  Yes you are insured!  Must have a valid drivers license and be over 21 .

"Why is this Night different from all other Nights? To start with, it’s smart, it’s imaginative, it’s beautiful, it makes sense of the peculiar world Shakespeare created. It takes the titular dream to heart, as characters shape-shift and locales subtly morph. Still, the text is clear. Under the direction of Tim Robbins and starring a mere 12 actors, it’s one of the best versions to have graced LA stages in recent decades." Arts in LA

Opening day info for GOOD OL' FREDA opening in Los Angeles onFriday, September 6

Freda Kelly was just a shy Liverpudlian teenager when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda had faith in The Beatles from the beginning, and The Beatles had faith in her.
History notes that The Beatles were together for 10 years, but Freda worked for them for 11. Many people came in and out of the band's circle as they grew to international stardom, but Freda remained a staple because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication. As the Beatles' devoted secretary and friend, Freda was there as history unfolded; she was witness to the evolution – advances and setbacks, breakthroughs and challenges – of the greatest band in history.
In GOOD OL’ FREDA, Freda tells her stories for the first time in 50 years. One of few films with the support of the living Beatles and featuring original Beatles music, the film offers an insider perspective on the beloved band that changed the music industry.

Good news in a matter of your feelings in regard to another .You may be in love or just relieved it’s over what ever this week ends on a better note than for some time.

By the end of this month you will be able to see your way to having space in your life for new people or projects or both .What is definite this coming week is that you must lay low and rest. Get ready to be cool.

You have been running away from something and the clue is not to run. You will have to deal with it in the long term .Take a deep breath and understand that its up to you how you want your life to be going forward.

Well! now the anticlimax what happens now after the whirl wind of the last month
You have to face up to what is not finished and deal with it this week other wise the opportunity will pass you by.

If you look at what the current situation unresolved means to you then the faster you will change it. If you only knew what the other side of this was you would act and swiftly. Relax and enjoy life.

This month coming up is your new year so act as if it’s a celebration and make sure that what happens this week ahead continues through until next birthday. Do keep up with your exercise program. Happy Birthday!!

You are ready to clear away all the past dead wood which can mean many things to you however keeping healthy and feeling fit being the most important .Take action to put this in order.

The latter part of this year is excellent compared to the rest that’s passed all good news indeed for a change. Finances are in good shape or will be and .romance is starred starting September.

You could be feeling a bit moody or out of sorts due to the fire planet Mars acting up in you area of deep feelings .Know this what you reap is what you sow and this would be a good time to start thinking positive in all areas

Your financial situation is still not what you want, however in order to achieve a positive flow of money you have to assume it is already here .This means to not act or think in lack of any thing in life .

A family member will likely ask for help this next few days .How you handle this situation will decide if they come back for more .Its your decision so set your boundaries.
and be neutral. The very powerful full moon in your own sign will bring up unfinished business.

Health is on your mind either yours or another close to you so this week to help the situation get an exercise plan going for your self and encourages others to join in.
A planned trip may not happen so resolve to take it in your stride.
