If you are new to LA you maybe interested to know that you don’t need an American credit score to buy or lease a car, there is such thing as an International Leasing plan that both Volkswagen, Santa Monica and Audi Pacific offer, that takes into account your credit score back home and proof of some sort of visa to work in the USA. Email Artem or Jordan at Volkswagen, SM or Evan Bolton at Audi Pacific at  to find out how you can get into a car hassle free - these guys have helped countless Brits in LA members already.

Plus both dealerships have committed to donating $100 per vehicle leased or sold to

Polo, Pub Quiz and Abba-Fest Oh my!

Well it has been a jam packed week in the house of BLA! Firstly Eileen and I along with our good friends Herb Ankrom and Marc Cleary had a great day out at Will Rogers State Park in the Pacific Palisades to support the charity ‘Safety Harbor Kids’ with their 7th Annual Polo tournament -
A horse, it;s rider, Me, Eileen, Marc and Herb
Don’t ask me who was playing who as I was most distracting by a fun black jack table which had my name on it for most of the event. Our dealer was a laugh riot who encouraged us to cheat, a LOT!!! (Wish they were like that in Vegas) -

Anyway Eileen ended up being the winner and scoring a tower of chocolates.

It was so nice to see so many members show up including a pair of gorgeous Brit actresses; Judi Shekoni and Tehmina Sunny
who the latter excitedly told me about her new hush hush job! - Couldn’t happen to a nicer more hardworking gal. Congrats Tehmina.
Champagne and strawberries soon followed as everyone went to dig the divots.

We decided we wanted to arrive in style so booked a chauffeur driven Escalade from Evolve Executive Car service (818) 571-1985 and was delighted to know it was owned and driven by a fellow Brit, Nigel Copps - He definitely took extra special care of us - and we highly recommend him for any red carpet events you might have coming up.

On Sunday, we were also lucky enough to be invited along by member Penelope J. von Kalinowski to attend the ‘Abba-fest’ at the Hollywood Bowl (2301 N Highland Ave  Los Angeles)

Which is a must do if you’ve never been this outdoor music space, it’s remarkable, truly one of LA’s best music venues. And this night was no exception it started off with a ‘Glee’ inspired sing off between three of our local colleges, the winners where called ‘The Scattertones’ who performed a mash-up of “Money, Money, Money”, “Mamma Mia” and “S.O.S” Then after a short interval came the main attraction - ‘ABBA-FEST’ - The world’s best ABBA tribute band. Apart from the dodgy wigs they were pretty darn convincing, working their way through the hits, they had the whole crowd up on their feet, average age was around 60, but that didn’t stop them shuffling in the aisles. One of the best things about the bowl is you can also bring your own picnic and wine. - and needless to say two bottles later we were joining in with the old timers on “Take a Chance On Me”. It truly was a blast, so try to catch them next time they are in town if you can. Next week I’m off to see ‘Earth, Wind and Fire.’ truthfully I can only name one song, aptly title ‘September’ but I’m sure they will be thoroughly entertaining with better wigs ;-)

We had been getting a lot of requests lately to bring back our ‘A Very British Pub Quiz, so with the help of our interns Sophie and Sarah we hosted our come back night at The Pikey, (7617 W Sunset Blvd  Los Angeles, CA)  last Tuesday, which was packed to the rafters, people were having to stand.

Sophie and Sarah spent all week sourcing and researching questions and took the duties of quizmasters. And did us proud. The winning team ‘Our house’ took home the top prize and Team ‘No Chance’  in second place received tickets to see the brand new Britflick ‘The World’s End.’

Next Tuesday we welcome the new incoming British Consulate-General, Chris O’Connor and the same evening we are hosting a cocktail reception at the very famous Fahey-Klein Gallery for the winners in our RANKIN photo competition in association with Heifer international and Talent house. Let us know if you would like to attend send a request to

Speaking off we are proud supporters of A Place At The Table event on the 19th of September, during Emmy  week honoring the great marvelous actress, Susan Sarandon and an amazing live performance by Grammy winners ‘The Band Perry’. There is still a chance you can join us, as there are still a few tickets available.

Check their website for all the info . You can email me directly at if you are interested in coming with a group of us. This truly is a wonderful charity that empowers women in third world countries and teaches them sustainability with the use of livestock. It really is inspiring work these guys do and a what a huge difference they have made over the years.

Have a wonderful week Breeps and hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.

Contact Evan Bolton if you are interested in leasing or purchasing a vehicle from Audi Pacific . For those of you with no established credit, make sure to mention you are interested in the Foreign Business Professional Leasing Plan

We just came across this great website called Drive Hubber
It is perfect for Brits in LA members! So many of you are traveling or looking for rental cars. Drive Hubber operate out of the airport, which means you can drive to LAX in your own car (save on a taxi) then drop your car off with them (save on parking at the airport) then they will rent your car out whilst you are away! Visited their website to list your car today.  Any questions you can speak to Paul at Hubber

How it works:
pre-list your vehicle, and when someone wants to rent it you get free parking for your entire trip, a car wash, and fuel service.  If your car isn't booked prior to your trip, you will have enough time to still arrange a ride to the airport.
Insurance is included in Hubber's rates which clears any confusion for visitors from abroad.  Yes you are insured!  Must have a valid drivers license and be over 21 .

Freda Kelly was just a shy Liverpudlian teenager when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda had faith in The Beatles from the beginning, and The Beatles had faith in her.
History notes that The Beatles were together for 10 years, but Freda worked for them for 11. Many people came in and out of the band's circle as they grew to international stardom, but Freda remained a staple because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication. As the Beatles' devoted secretary and friend, Freda was there as history unfolded; she was witness to the evolution – advances and setbacks, breakthroughs and challenges – of the greatest band in history.

In GOOD OL’ FREDA, Freda tells her stories for the first time in 50 years. One of few films with the support of the living Beatles and featuring original Beatles music, the film offers an insider perspective on the beloved band that changed the music industry.

Humor Abuse
Performed by Lorenzo Pisoni
Directed by Erica Schmidt
Mark Taper Forum
Sept 17 – Nov 3, 2013

Run away and join the circus with a clown, his dad and a lifetime of memories.
“90 minutes of nonstop hilarity…a tour de force of physical comedy.” – San Francisco Chronicle
Life lessons fly fast and funny for Lorenzo Pisoni when he joins the family business – San Francisco’s Pickle Family Circus – at the age of six, earning his clown college stripes (and polka dots) through on-the-job training with his exacting father as his role model, guru and comic foil.
In his autobiographical Humor Abuse, Pisoni is a one-man whirlwind: spinning stories like plates and performing side-splitting physical feats with aplomb, mixing heart and humor in a tenderly rendered homage to the consummate performer, parent and perfectionist who taught him everything he needed to fill some very big shoes.
“Mr. Pisoni’s performance is breathtaking,” – Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

I am happy to announce member Adam Huss stars in FIND ME, a film he associate produced  has digital distribution via Kinonation! Our new distributor was so excited about the film that they have already gotten us up on Amazon Instant Video and are quickly working to secure other platforms. We will keep everyone updated as we get up on these other platforms but in the meantime it is crucial that we get everyone, and their family and friends, to post positive reviews for our film on Amazon. The more reviews and the more traffic we drive to our film, the better it is for ALL of us!! We need Find Me "noticed" by the outlet algorithm so we keep moving closer to being on top and in the for front!

You can buy or rent off Amazon Instant Video.  And also please just help spread the word via email, facebook, twitter etc and post some favorable reviews and ratings so we can build a following for the movie and get it to even more outlets!

She is amazing!

Please keep a close watch out for accidents this week as the planets are not so much in your favor to go out on a limb. On the up side an unexpected visitor can cheer you up. Your boss Mars is in Leo for a visit.

Your priority should be taking care of you in any area that requires attention. and start with what you have put aside as Venus your boss planet is watching you and is not in the mood for you taking no action.

If you feel you need to make a move in a direction  that you have put off moving in but are not sure what reaction or result s you will get then this is the time to do it your ruler Mercury has done with his vacation and is now on the move .

You will have to be aware this next week to not speak out of turn or harshly to any one .The consequences are not something you will have to deal with right now but soon and they are not easy .

Leo is renowned to be impulsive at times and like your cousin Aries this week take care with any potential accidents or upsets. Life is always mostly as you make it the rest you can not control.

Just make sure you have caught up with what ever is unfinished and  holding and then make the plans you are ready to make .This coming  month starts your new year so be sure to have a  Happy Birthday.

Its time to get going ready for your yearly clean out in which ever area this is   so get  going on what ever you know need big changes or it will get harder to do as the season changes.

After the events of the past few weeks the big build up and fast let downs you would think enough is enough for even the strong willed Scorpio .Well see what you can pull out of the hat this week  .It will be a nice surprise.

Take the bull by the horns and this week ahead should be the right time If you have any financial situation pending do make it a priority. While you have time  keep busy cleaning out anything you can.

If you are hanging on waiting for some kind of decision from another don’t wait .Take action on your own behalf and make the result you are looking for .You are the motivating force now in a good way.

Well what will happen in life if you sit around and wait for something to happen .Go out and make waves .This part of the year is ripe for you to make the changes and don’t expect any less than completion.

Its all work and no play for you this week so do what has to be done and do not  allow others to tell you how or what to do .Its time to make life a bit more interesting and its right around the corner if you want to peep.

I have a few movies hitting the festivals this month and next so here are the trailers - you can hit me up if you are interested in seeing them
