If you are new to LA you maybe interested to know that you don’t need an American credit score to buy or lease a car, there is such thing as an International Leasing plan that both Volkswagen, Santa Monica and Audi Pacific offer, that takes into account your credit score back home and proof of some sort of visa to work in the USA. Email Artem or Jordan at Volkswagen, SM or Evan Bolton at Audi Pacific at  to find out how you can get into a car hassle free - these guys have helped countless Brits in LA members already.

Plus both dealerships have committed to donating $100 per vehicle leased or sold to

Editor's Letter

Hi Everyone
Happy Birthday LA ! 232 years old today!

How are you all surviving in the heat ? My iPhone keeps overheating - hopefully this will be solved on September with the launch of Apple's new iPhone 5!
I don't know how some of you coped with the heat at Burning Man, I am very impressed!

I kicked off my week with a proper disco courtesy of  Giorgio's at the Standard hotel in Hollywood. Everyone dresses up and has a great time. I even spotted a guy strutting his stuff in full native american attire, a nod to the Village People methinks! To my delight I got to dance with Siobhan, Karen and Sarah from Banarama!! I had to pinch myself!
And kick myself for not taking a photo to share with you all!

I celebrated the long holiday weekend in a very traditional manner. A drill in one hand and a spirit level hanging out of my back pocket. Home Depot became my best friend this weekend, and I discovered it was also a great way to earn extra Virgin airmiles!
Turns out Virgin have a whole shopping section on their website. So basically I shopped online and picked up in store 20 minutes later all whilst earning 3 miles per $1 .
If you have a Virgin Flying Club  account , I highly recommend you sign up for Shops Away
So many vendors offering air miles including Apple, Nordstrom, Sephora and even J Crew and the Gap!

I also went along to see  Scottish singer Angela McCluskey perform last week at new LA hotspot Acabar. Brought to you by the guys from everyones favourite, the Little Door .
Housed in the building previously owned by Dar Maghreb .
Absolutely brilliant performance , with the icing on the cake being Banarama! Yes, they were also there. Again! I was so excited I forgot to take any pictures. Again!
You will just have to take my word for it!

I am so pleased  to announce the return of Pub Quiz!
Sophie & Sarah will be taking the reigns
and will be your quizmasters for the night.
It is Tuesday September 10th at the Pikey.
Click here to RSVP and to sign up to join a team.

We also have the our Sunday Roast this weekend -

We just came across this great website called Drive Hubber
It is perfect for Brits in LA members! So many of you are traveling or looking for rental cars. Drive Hubber operate out of the airport, which means you can drive to LAX in your own car (save on a taxi) then drop your car off with them (save on parking at the airport) then they will rent your car out whilst you are away! Visited their website to list your car today.  Any questions you can speak to Paul at Hubber

How it works:
pre-list your vehicle, and when someone wants to rent it you get free parking for your entire trip, a car wash, and fuel service.  If your car isn't booked prior to your trip, you will have enough time to still arrange a ride to the airport.
Insurance is included in Hubber's rates which clears any confusion for visitors from abroad.  Yes you are insured!  Must have a valid drivers license and be over 21 .

Freda Kelly was just a shy Liverpudlian teenager when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda had faith in The Beatles from the beginning, and The Beatles had faith in her.
History notes that The Beatles were together for 10 years, but Freda worked for them for 11. Many people came in and out of the band's circle as they grew to international stardom, but Freda remained a staple because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication. As the Beatles' devoted secretary and friend, Freda was there as history unfolded; she was witness to the evolution – advances and setbacks, breakthroughs and challenges – of the greatest band in history.

In GOOD OL’ FREDA, Freda tells her stories for the first time in 50 years. One of few films with the support of the living Beatles and featuring original Beatles music, the film offers an insider perspective on the beloved band that changed the music industry.

She is amazing!

The financial situation for you could be getting a boost as early September arrives
Look for an opportunity to add to your bank account .Its a good week for a gamble of sorts as your boss Mars is in Leo your cousin sign.

The sun in your cousin sign of Virgo will bring a situation that is unresolved.
This is in any part of your life to a head.  It’s best to deal with this promptly
rather than wait for the other party to make a move.

Time again for your boss Mercury to complete what has transpired in your life these past few weeks. You will be travelling emotionally or otherwise to a place where you can put things to rest in a past unresolved situation.

Movement is good for you and this week it’s all around you and in the family also.
Be strong and understand you are not weak if you admit to a change of mind. A person who has upset you in the past may appear again.

Health issues could hold you back from enjoying this last weeks of the summer
So tackle what to do and make it your priority and spend time relaxing not stressing. Have a small family get together it will be fun.

As this coming month is the start of your New Year be sure you are ready and willing to get going on your particular plan for the New Year .If it is a change of work or home this will work well. Happy Birthday.

With Venus your boss heading for a visit soon in the part of your life that’s not always on show it is wise to be ready.  Make sure you are ready for a surprise by being at your best appearance for the next week or so.!

You are on a health regime these next few weeks and as you are determined to achieve a good outcome let nothing stop you. The last year has not been as you would have liked and now as always the planets will be on your side. Take advantage.

You could be feeling a bit moody or out of sorts due to Venus acting up in you area of deep feelings .Know this ,what you reap is what you sow and this would be a good time to start thinking about the changes to make and the new seeds to plant .

Your financial situation is still not what you want, however in order to achieve a positive flow of money you have to assume it is already here .This means to not even think a negative  thought. This part of the year will start to pick up for you overall.

.Its your decision so set your boundaries and that means literally say what they are to whom ever it will affect. A short trip will bring much happiness to you for a change.

Your health has not been as it could be recently, perhaps because you are your own worst enemy when it comes to your self .Look in that mirror and say every day” I am getting better every day in every way “ You will feel the difference as soon as mid month.

And finally...
Goodbye, Good Night and Farewell
to Sir David Frost
