If you are new to LA you maybe interested to know that you don’t need an American credit score to buy or lease a car, there is such thing as an International Leasing plan that both Volkswagen, Santa Monica and Audi Pacific offer, that takes into account your credit score back home and proof of some sort of visa to work in the USA. Email Artem or Jordan at Volkswagen, SM or Evan Bolton at Audi Pacific at  to find out how you can get into a car hassle free - these guys have helped countless Brits in LA members already.

Plus both dealerships have committed to donating $100 per vehicle leased or sold to

Editor's Letter
Hi Everyone!
Thank you all for your lovely birthday wishes! I had a wonderful weekend celebrating several times, kicking off with dinner at Soho House, then on to the Pet Shop Boys on the Saturday and ending up at our monthly Sunday Roast! So very British indeed!
The Pet Shop Boys were fantastic - I have been very lucky recently at catching all the good shows and each one just gets better and better!
PET SHOP BOYS - photo Charlie McBrearty
Don't think I only go to see British acts though - I went to see gipsy punk band Gogol Bordello last week (although they do have a Scottish band member!)They are amazing , such high energy and it is a real pleasure to see performers so excited to be on stage even after all these years of touring. They are hitting the UK in December, so if you are home for Christmas, I highly recommend going to see them.

Massive congratulations to our Craig! His film Return To The Hiding Place won lots of awards at the Bel Air Film Festival this past weekend including "Best Jury Feature" as well as a host of other accolades! Such a lovely film and based on a true story about the brave Dutch resistance during the Second World War. There wasn't a dry eye in the house by the time the credits rolled.
Our monthly pub quiz at the Pikey is proving rather popular, so have decided to make this a weekly event. Team 'Our House' won for the second time in a row, so if you think you have what it takes to knock them off their pedestal come join us on a Tuesday night, starting in November. Not all questions are based on British knowledge, infact it pays to have a couple of non Brits on your team!

As you know our Halloween party, Dead British 2 is imminent, October 31st to be precise. Tickets are selling fast. Click on this link to purchase yours. Location is Bar Lubitsch, which is the perfect location for those of you who want to check out the West Hollywood Parade and far enough away for those of you who don't.
We will have a spooky photo booth, fortune tellers and costume competitons -
your ticket price also includes a Halloween tipple.
If you know of any Bonfire night celebrations we would love to hear from you , as this question gets asked again and again. It is a little tricky in SoCal because of the forest fire hazards - so don't try this at home!

Since the weather has turned colder, the main topic on our Facebook page seems to be about comfort food! In particular, where to get a decent curry. Do you have a favourite? If so, please share with us and we will pass on to our members. My go to place is India's Grill but I would love to check some others out.

We have so many great events coming up - Breakfast Club every Tuesday presented by Next Stop LAX, as previously mentioned, Monthly Sunday Roast, and our infamous Halloween Party, Dead British! If you fancy joining us for any of these but feel a little apprehensive about coming solo, feel free to drop us a line and we will make sure you are not alone for long. We have all been in the same boat at some point and absolutely love welcoming people to the Brits in LA community!

Don't forget to check our website Britsin.LA for all the info on any events I have mentioned. For upcoming Brit acts performing in or around LA, visit our gigging page. Martin Jarvis and The Mighty Boosh have performances this weekend, as does our featured Brits in LA member and award winning composer, John Altman. So as you can see there is truly something for everyone!
For the athletes amongst you, registration is now open for the LA Marathon.

Humor Abuse
Performed by Lorenzo Pisoni
Directed by Erica Schmidt
Mark Taper Forum
Sept 17 – Nov 3, 2013
Run away and join the circus with a clown, his dad and a lifetime of memories.
“90 minutes of nonstop hilarity…a tour de force of physical comedy.” – San Francisco Chronicle
Life lessons fly fast and funny for Lorenzo Pisoni when he joins the family business – San Francisco’s Pickle Family Circus – at the age of six, earning his clown college stripes (and polka dots) through on-the-job training with his exacting father as his role model, guru and comic foil.
In his autobiographical Humor Abuse, Pisoni is a one-man whirlwind: spinning stories like plates and performing side-splitting physical feats with aplomb, mixing heart and humor in a tenderly rendered homage to the consummate performer, parent and perfectionist who taught him everything he needed to fill some very big shoes.
“Mr. Pisoni’s performance is breathtaking,” – Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

She is amazing!

Be very low key and don’t make any waves over anything as the  current life situation will be here for some time ahead. Its time to clean out any unwanted goods or people from your life now.

Write a list of priorities and start with the biggest as your ruler Venus in your opposite sign just might be helping you as the month progresses especially in romance and finances.

Time to deal with what has been hidden so far  from you by others perhaps
Uranus the trouble maker is hanging out in the area of family and close relationships .Your ready indeed for letting go of what not working .

A positive beginning to October and time to make peace or amends with any one or any thing that has caused you upset as chances are you did not see the picture clearly !! This Month is unpredictable.

The good news is if you take control it will be sorted completely if you allow another week to go by. Any feelings of insecurity are just that feelings sp do not let them run your life.

If any area of life currently is not going as smoothly as you expect  you can let go of
worry about the outcome all will be well in the end . Please find some thing to change that’s need the help there is  always something.

The main lesson of this month is that its time to make decisions not something Libra is often able to do quickly at. However as it is the beginning of your particular new year make at least one resolution .Happy Birthday.

Remember this time last month and realize that all things change and that which came to pass was not any where near as bad as you thought .You are being blessed through this month by Venus visiting you .An unexpected gift will be on the cards.

Your favorite pastime travel period is coming up and be ready to relax and take a different route this time as you are  truly in need of a break away. You will be lucky in some way this week. Venus visits you mid month lightening life up.

Pluto the lord of digging up the dirt is settling down deeper into your life so the best thing is to look at what you know you can change the rest will take its time  in sorting out what to do and when. This a time laying low and being mellow.

You have a chance to rest or take a quick trip this week ahead even for the day would freshen you up, as we get deeper in to October you will be too busy to take time out.
You have realized that a peaceful life is worth the effort

This week ahead do confront what upsets you in a non threatening way and see how much better life will be as a result of taking action for your self by your self. You will be in a social mood this week so go for it .
