Editor's Letter

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Hope you all had a lovely feast and spent it with good friends?! Or perhaps some of you took Craig’s advice from last week and helped out at a homeless shelter?
It is such a good time to reflect, as there are constant reminders all around us to give thanks this time of the month.  It made me take a look back at just the last couple of weeks and I really feel it is a perfect time to say Thank You to Los Angeles for giving me such a fun, fabulous and fulfilling life.

Through Brits in LA, and Los Angeles in general, I have made so many good friends and experienced so many different and unique moments. In the past 7 days alone,  I have hosted a pub quiz in the middle of Hollywood,  (every Tuesday at the Pikey!),

I also attended a magnificent performance of
And to top it all , I was part of the

I even managed to spend time with several dear old friends over the past two weeks - including a couple that I befriended almost 17 years ago, when I first arrived in Los Angeles. The quality of life in California always amazes me, as whatever our circumstances are, most of us seem to get to have a pretty pleasant time. So I hope at some point this weekend, that those of you who have made California your happy home, will take a minute to give thanks!

We get to do something very nice next week too - as it is our annual Christmas party at Pearl’s on the Sunset Strip on Tuesday December 3rd - there are still a few tickets available, so visit our website to purchase yours. (Which means NO pub quiz next Tuesday)

Thank you as always to Volkswagen Santa Monica for their continued support and for co-hosting this event with us! We will be collecting toys and hosting a raffle for one of our favorite charities, .
Baroness Kimberly Moore has been running this program for 6 years now,  and  we are proud to say Brits in LA have been supporters from the very beginning! It all started 10 days before Christmas in 2007, and Kimberly wondered what happened to all the Santa letters sent by under privileged kids in LA … she was horrified to find out that nothing happened and they all went unanswered.
Adopt A Letter  - is exactly that. You can visit the website and choose a letter to answer and adopt. We collect unwrapped toys at our party for all the kids who didn’t see the point in writing a letter to Santa. I also try to adopt one personally, every year. This one from Denise age 11, is particularly touching - what she wants most from Santa is a cure for her kidney disease, so she can feel like a normal child.

These letters are all real, and from kids in the LA area.
I really hope you can join us at our party next week - feel free to come solo as we are a friendly bunch! We always love hearing from you, so don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you have any questions, big or small.

PS. Special thank you's to Sandro Monetti, Tessa Shaw, Claire Bullivant, Julie Gray-Antis, Steve Sidelnyk, Karen Ferrari & Jean Karasek, for all that you did and do for Brits in LA!

Last Day to send post to the UK for Christmas is December 9th!
I love using USPS online - you can print off postage right from your computer!
If you miss the deadline but simply must send a greeting card home try out MoonPig
They also offer personal greeting card options and ship locally so you can wait till last minute!

REVIEW SUBMITTED BY DOUGLAS WATERS: A couple of things are worth looking out for here. I think Sam Douglas makes a great Herod, rivalling Peter Ustinov's iconic portrayal in Jesus of Nazareth (dir. J. Franco Zeffirelli, 1977)...And I love Leila Mimmack's Josephus describes the young men as gaining courage from the report of Herod the Great's ill health. The Bible series depicts that bad health in an extraordinary and memorable scene where Sam Douglas as Herod lies bloated and in agony with leaches all over his body. This scene is a great adaptation of the story from Josephus and, as I commented the other day, Sam Douglas's Herod is up there with Peter Ustinov's iconic depiction of Herod in Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth (1977).

11/30 /13

As the sun moves in a cousin sign Sagittarius be sure to keep a handle on your emotions and especially around a family member or close friend .This person may be in some kind of trouble.

Financial situations are improving so be sure to keep a lid on the spending until you know how much you can spend .Its likely it will take until late December to get the situation under control .

Time to look at the future as right now it’s not looking the way you want. Life is not always the way we plan it and letting go of the outcome often is the only way to move forward.

If you search your heart you will know your time has been wasted proving your point .Bend like the tree in the wind it will be better for you in the long run
better for you than standing rigid.

The sun in your cousin fire planet will bring a situation to a head in late week ahead and in any unresolved area of your life or some close to you. The good news is if you
take a look at what you have achieved recently you will feel better.

Life is for living and if you are in any kind of funky mood do not be around others who will antagonize you more. Keep a low profile until mid December and then life picks up speed. Make sure you pay attention to some one in your life who is worried.

Mercury in your money house will make you spend too much for your wallet and as he is only be there until mid December make gift shopping later in the month and you will have cash to spare at the holidays.

When Scorpios learn that they must detach from any situation that’s unresolved and surrender you will find the outcome is always positive. A situation possibly in romance is on the mend be patient.

Take the bull by the horns and this week ahead should be the right time If you have any financial situation pending take notice to not make rash decisions and get advice from some one who knows what to do .Happy Birthday.

If you are hanging on waiting for some kind of decision from another don’t wait .You are the motivating force now in a good way. You may feel a bit low it’s only the planets getting you ready for changes and they will come later this month.

Well what will happen in life if you sit around and wait for something to happen .Go out and make waves .This part of the year is ripe for you to make the changes and don’t expect miracles just slow steady progress.

Its all work and no play for you up to the weekend  so do what has to be done and do not  allow others to tell you how or what to do .Its time to make life a bit more interesting and its right to look forward to better days ahead.
