Wow, what a whirlwind of a week it has been! I am sure most of you saw last weeks British Weekly Toscar coverage (if not, its available online at here ). We had a fantastic turn out and a very successful event. Thank you so much to everyone who came together to make it the best one yet !
To view all the 5 minute parody films, including the winner of 2014 ‘Terminate HER’

Our Oscar parody week was launched with a Toscar Participants Luncheon for 100 people over at Palihouse in West Hollywood.

We feasted on their newly launched Sunday menu designed by fellow Brit, Matthew Woolf.

Chef Woolf started cooking at the age of 16 at Claridges in London. His talent took him on an amazing journey which included a stop at the Ritz, then on to the Trump Hotel and also the Fig in Santa Monica. More recently, his path returned him back under the helm of Gordon Ramsay, as Executive Chef at The Fat Cow (The Grove Shopping Mall at Third & Fairfax). The Palihouse certainly know how to pick ‘em! Their Sunday lunch menu is absolutely delicious and quite unique especially in the Los Angeles area - I tried the treacle cured roast beef and also shared a Scotch Egg with curry mayo. I am definitely going back to try the Guinness flavored Welsh Rarebit and save some room this time for dessert. I have my eye on the Apple & Toffee Crumble Pie (with Rum Ice Cream!). Sunday lunch menu serves from 11-3pm. Visit for full details.

On pre Oscar Friday we had the pleasure of being invited to The GREAT British Film Reception hosted at the British Consul Residence.  In honor of Oscar winner (then nominee), Steve McQueen, for ’12 Years A Slave’. (Check out Toscar parody '12 Days A Stripper') There were plenty of notable guests in attendance, including Dame Helen Mirren, Chesney Hawkes, and the one that seemed to cause the most excitement was Sir Alex Ferguson!

I think partially because it was so out of context. I asked him if he was here for football reasons (wondered if he was dabbling with managing the LA Galaxy..), but no, he told me his friend was hosting a little party for Vanity Fair, so he thought it was a good excuse to pop over. Virgin Atlantic had a fun photo booth set up with a First Class Cabin back drop, complete with real live air hostesses.

Jaguar USA’s patriotic Union Jack wrapped F-Type was the other star of the show, featured prominently at the event check in and coveted by pretty much every guest.
We are also very excited to announce our new partnership with Jaguar USA. Schedule a test drive today! Eileen and Craig had fun posing with the #ftype at The Toscars and at the British Film reception honoring all the British nominees for The Academy Awards

One of the downsides of the Oscar’s  is the horrid traffic it causes for those of us living in Hollywood - I read an unsurprising statistic this week which informed me that Los Angelenos spend 47 hours a year sitting in traffic! I think I have done that in the past week thanks to the storms, the Oscars, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu’s current visit and we still have the LA Marathon to get through on March 9th!

We have lots of other fun events going on this month including Sunday Lunch at both Palihouse and the Pikey and would love you to come and join us at one or all. Visit our website Britsin.LA for all the details or drop us a line at
If you happen to be running in the LA Marathon this weekend make sure to tweet us @BritsinLA so we can follow your progress and share with our other members. Brits in LA member Andy Newton Lee is running and raising money for the Alzheimer's Society. Sponsor him here

Please keep a low profile this month as the planets are in turmoil and moving swiftly. They will start benefiting you after this month. Best thing all round is start nothing unless you have before end of this month.

What a change in pace you are due for and in order to prepare for this
second wind you have to clear all unfinished tasks to make space for the new.
By the end of this month you will be able to chill out a little.

Time to plan a trip long or several shorter ones All of this is happening in the second part of the month. Until then make time to rest as after mid month your boss Mercury is be moving swiftly forward.

To not bend in the wind when its stormy weather can damage the tree and you are not remotely like the tree. Time to eat humble pie or you will be in worse shape if you are not pliant in some emotional situation you are dragging along behind!

Mars the fire planet in Libra going backwards  will bring a situation to a head.
Maybe in any financial area in your life or of those close to you. The good news is if
you take control now of what you can  you will be in good shape by April.

Any frustrations you have in any area of life most likely the work arena will not
get better by taking your frustrations out on others around you. Mercury your unpredictable boss going forward now is demanding you stay cool and calm.

You are ready to for a very new and much healthier life style and it’s right on
time for the Spring arriving. Once decided, which is the hardest part you will be raring to go forward. You can reach out to a close friend who may not be saying too much but is not doing too good.

Some good energy planets are gathered in your cousin sign of Pisces. As these are complimentary to you in several ways one in particular expect a person of interest to you romantically  could in to your life just when you least expect.

Just watch that temper if things don’t always go the way you planned life is an adventure.
and you need to remember that child like quality which is so unique to you. You will be doing much better come end of March.

This could be the month that it all comes together or you let it go .You started this year with a solar eclipse in your sign which signals endings .Remember when one door closes another will swing open. By now you could be ready for very positive changes.

In mid March starts a new opportunity to travel and change your life in a different way to what you expected but none the less good. You are ready for those changes in a good way career or personally...

You are reputed to be the most romantic soul and also the most sensitive and there are a lot of positive planets in your sign now .This means different things to each Pisces
and overall it is a most creative time. So get started creating what you desire.

Featuring Toscar winners JC Mac and Sarah Farooqui also nominee Ron Jeremy
