SOCCER, PUP & KIDS AT THE BORDER

Brits in LA members enjoying an early morning bevvie at mixology 101

Greetings peeps.

As you probably already know World Cup is under way. And I’m pleased to say England has won their first match 2-1 against Tunisia. About 40 supporters gathered at Mixology 101 at the Grove, at 11am on Monday to root on our country’s team. It was a hairy match but luckily we pulled through to score another goal during extra time. Talk about luck!
We are gathering again this Sunday at 5am at the same place. It feels so Californian with their massive screens throughout, windows thrown open and a slight cross breeze making it perfect to nuzzle on a pint and enjoy the $15 full English breakfast. Loads of parking at the farmers’ market (which you can validate to get a great discount)

Meet Coco  - The Fam's new Furbaby

Rescue Babe
So 3 months ago I wrote an article about what it’s really like to lose a pet, after losing my corgi-mix Dusty. And most of you might think after all that heartache why would you put yourself through it again?

Well  one of the fastest ways to mend the heart is by rescuing a pet. So we had been looking for awhile and we saw this one pic of “black bottom Betty” on rescueme.com and she had these deep amber eyes and floppy ears. So I filled out an application form and waited. Three days went by and nothing.
I tried again. (These applications are 90 pages long by the way.)
I tried calling voice mail was full, I tried emailing. No response. So I started looking else where. Then a week later I finally got a call back from ghetto rescue and said that we might be a great fit for BBB. So off we went to Norco (Corona) horse country and went to meet Betty. She sniffed around us. She played with us a little and then she looked in my eyes and I knew that was it, she had chosen us to be her new parents.
We picked her up put her in the car and took her home.

So here we are 3 days in. Shes still a little shy, but she’s less nervous. She’s hadn’t chewed anything, and she hasn’t messed the house. She’s playing ball.

But what’s she’s teaching me is patience. Things don’t happen over night. You have to nurture it and slowly but surely the bond will happen.

I’m reading up on being a rescue parent and watching a lot of the dog whisperer.
To learn how to provide the best life for little Coco. (Oh yeah we changed her name after finding out she was rescued on the border of Texas and Mexico)

Children
Speaking of that boarder. It’s absolutely devastating what is happening with the immigrant detainees down their. It’s like an animal shelter, children being kept in cages. I’m sickened by the reports and the “tender-age camps” that have been set up. These  poor families forced apart by our leader: I am enraged by the reports and images of these places. This is how WW2 started.

I’m hoping by the time this article comes out that we may have seen change and we have made enough noise that government have reunited these families and some change has made. It’s a moral issue over a legal issue at this point. It is inhumane to keep children in cages. Period and if we don’t do something about it l, another country will and will wage war on America, mark my words. And trust me that’s probably what “he who shall not be named” is looking for. But let’s hope some swift action can be taken and none of this comes to fruition.
